Self care and mindfulness will be more important than ever this year

February 25, 2025 By Miriam Green

To show up for ourselves, our partners, and our communities, it’s critical that we take time for our own resilience and well-being. I think this will be even more critical this year than it’s probably ever been. So, I’d like to invite you back to our second Month of Mindfulness for this January 2025. The month is a time to slow down, look inward, and build community. We’ll have daily practice for mindfulness and journaling, as well as a special focus on how a yearly reset can be particularly relevant for kinksters, queer folks, and other erotic adventurers. Let’s put on that virtual oxygen mask going into the year so we can be really present for what’s to come. Month of Mindfulness for kinksters, queer folks, polyamorous, and other erotic adventurers, with Miriam Green Online via Teachable Daily January 1 – January 31, 2025 Advance ticketing required. Get your seat here. And RSVP on FetLife to let friends know you’re coming. Month of Mindfulness(for who we really are) Building simple, sustainable daily practice to support ourselves in our kink and queer explorations, relationships and everyday lives. Daily practice is for everyone What’s the most important part of a daily practice? The daily part. We’ll spend a month together exploring daily practices that tend to help most folks lead lives with deeper meaning, more resilience, and greater focus. Spoiler: Not every technique out there will work for you, and that’s okay! We’ll explore together several practices that tend to help most people, most of the time. By the end of the month, you’ll be ready to launch your own personal practice that suits your needs! What we’ll do As part of this program, you’ll receive and explore: Written & video instruction to understand the psychology of daily habits Written & video instruction to explore the application of our habits to a sex-positive life Live guided meditation sessions at least five days each week Pre-recorded meditation sessions with Miriam Green that you can use during the program and beyond Daily writing prompts Weekly suggestions for mindfulness field trips Support in establishing and maintaining your personal New Year’s resolutions And more! Previous students say . . . “Knowing why you do kink is the most valuable asset any kinkster can have, moreso than any technique or toy on the market. Mir’s inclusive framework and expansive knowledge base create an amazing sandbox for players to explore what makes them tick and how to better pursue it.” – Ari Can-Do TIcketing Ticketing available on a very affordable sliding scale from $33-$99 for the full month. Advance ticketing required. Get your seat here.

Helpful resources for uncertain times

February 25, 2025 By Miriam Green

Hello kinksters – We live in very interesting times right now. Some of the rights we’ve long taken as granted have been removed or are at risk. One benefit of being a bit older is that I’ve lived through the fight for some of these rights, and I know how we can fight to claw them back. I strongly believe that now is the time to get active where we can. Often that means working on specific issues, or in specific areas. Here are a few organizations I’d like to draw your attention to right now. These are groups that can help communities like ours, and that can also use your help, support, and engagement. Not all of them will be a fit for all of you. We’re a diverse community, and we don’t have to agree on everything. But for most of us kinksters and sexual adventurers, at least one of these will be a good fit. National Coalition for Sexual Freedom: These are the folks that run the priceless Kink Aware Professionals list, but they do a lot more than that. NCSF “is committed to creating a political, legal and social environment in the US that advances equal rights for consenting adults who engage in alternative sexual and relationship expressions.” This means they fight for the rights of kinksters, non-monogamous folks, sexually-oriented businesses like Wicked Grounds, and others. Wicked Grounds has been a coalition partner for many years, and we strongly recommend keeping up with and supporting their work. Becoming an individual member is inexpensive and keeps you in the loop. If you’re in the SF Bay Area, I strongly encourage you to get involved with the LEATHER & LGBTQ Cultural District, which is the world’s first city-recognized LEATHER & LGBTQ Cultural District. I was personally involved in the formation and bylaws-writing for the group and I feel very strongly about the possibility of this organization to drive positive change for kinksters and kink-oriented organizations. While the physical footprint of the district is in parts of SOMA, SF, the group invites all stakeholders — defined as Bay Area kinksters and participants in district kink businesses to become a member and get involved. Membership dues are very inexpensive, and hardship waivers are available. Reproductive Freedom for All is the group formerly known as NARAL. I was only a baby when Roe v. Wade became law, and I honestly never thought that we’d lose reproductive rights in my lifetime. Access to safe abortions has already been restricted in many parts of the US and lives have already been lost. Contraception rights are becoming actively endangered. Get on the mailing list, stay in the loop, and learn how to fight back. Advocates for Trans Equality (A4TE) was founded in 2024 as the National Center for Transgender Equality (NCTE) and Transgender Legal Defense and Education Fund (TLDEF), two long-time champions for the trans community, merged together as one organization. The new organization focuses on a wide range of acceptance and rights for trans and nonbinary people. Their work is absolutely critical right now. These are just a few of the organizations that I know best. I’m certain there are others. It’s normal to feel helpless, frustrated, or even angry at times like these. It’s okay to feel those feelings. But if we’re going to keep our rights as sexual adventurers, we can’t stay there. We must act. We must engage. And even when it feels like we have no fight left in us, we must fight. I encourage you to find one thing that you feel strongly enough about to get involved, and to get involved now. We have a few weeks of relatively calm before the storm. Let’s spend those making ourselves and our institutions as resilient as possible. Warmly,Miriam Green

Beloved kinksters – I was delighted last night to see a nearly full house at our Kinky Speed Friending and Dating in San Francisco. Right now more than ever, I think we need connection and community. We need to know who values sex-positive culture just as much as we do. And we need to be in places where we can truly be ourselves. Wherever you are, I hope you’re finding that sense of connection. If you’re not, I hope you’ll let us help! Just need to talk? Never hesitate to reach out for coaching. I have a few hours each week set aside to help individual clients with their personal journeys, goals, and challenges. You’re in luck if you’re up for gaining new skills this week. We have a great flogging class online, a live rope class in the SF Bay Area, and much more. Whatever you’re feeling this week, all of what you’re feeling this week, please make some space and be gentle with yourselves. Upcoming multi-week workshops to plan for! Join us in January for a full Month of Mindfulness with daily meditation sessions, journaling, habit-building and more with a focus on making more space for kinky, queer, and other sex-positive folks. Learn more and sign up with our sliding scale here, at rates starting at low as $1/day. If you’d like to go deeply into the intersection of magick and power, join us in February and early March for Pentacles of Power: A Sex-Magick Intensive for Kinky People. You absolutely don’t need to be kinky to practice sex magick. But if you are kinky, that’s going to change the way you think about power, polarity, ritual, and more. There are only a few instructors teaching at this intersection, and this is the first time Miriam Green will share personal practices they’ve been developing for nearly twenty years. Find more information and registration here. This week! Monday 11/18 Want to get started with flogging, or take your skills to the next level? Join Miss Mackenzee online at 6pm Pacific for Flogging With Style: From Basics to Brilliance. Advance ticketing required. Get yours from Forbidden Tickets or Plura. Tuesday 11/19 If you’re in the SF Bay Area, join us Tuesday evening at 6:30pm for Getting Started with Rope Bondage with Psychokitty Ryan. We’ll meet at the Folsom Street Community Center to get you grounded in all the fundamentals: basic safety, what rope to use, where to tie, and everything you need to know for your first single- and double-column ties, which are the fundamental building blocks for most eastern-style rope bondage. Advance ticketing strongly recommended. Get yours through Forbidden Tickets or Plura. Wednesday 11/20 Join Lady V and Jamie Love online at 6pm Pacific for Gender Affirming Intimacy. Let’s talk about Trans & Gender Expansive bodies, the multiple forms of intimacy, creating euphoria through affirming language, and adapting to different forms of sexual & non-sexual touch. Perhaps right now more than ever, it’s time to uplift and delight our trans and gender-expansive play partners and allies. Let’s talk about it! Advance tickets required through Forbidden Tickets or Plura. Thursday 11/21 Online tonight at 6pm Pacific, explore Voyeurism and Exhibitionism: Thrill of the Spotlight and Shadows with Lilith Foxx. This Week with Wicked Grounds (11/7 – 11/17)

February 25, 2025 By Miriam Green

Beloved kinksters – I will be perfectly honest: I woke up this morning, and my first thought was “I don’t want to write today’s newsletter.” That’s because many of us woke up yesterday in a different world than we’d hoped. But I don’t have a cafe table to jump on today, so the newsletter it is. I’m profoundly worried about where things are headed. We have about ten weeks before the civil climate in the US changes drastically. As a queer, trans, and sex-positive person, I am profoundly aware of my fears. Many of you are, too. I have a couple of anchors to hold onto today. First, I’m pledging to listen to my fear and anger. Not to be paralyzed by them. Not to push them away. Just to listen. Anger is a signal that your boundaries have been crossed. Fear is a signal that you still have the power to act. As kinksters, we have learned to listen to these signals, and to act on them. We are lucky in that way. Second, I am remembering the profound impact of sex-positive warriors of my youth. When I was coming up queer and polyamorous in a red state during the Reagan administration, voices like Annie Sprinkle, Carol Queen, and Susie Bright reminded me that my erotic expression had power. There is a reason that repressive movements tamp down on the erotic. The erotic life has power. Queer folks, kinky folks, and polyamorous folks have always been targets because our lives encourage our communities and others toward self-awareness and self-expression. This is dangerous to oppressive regimes. I’m going to honor the voices that literally saved my life by keeping and amplifying my own voice. So: we’re not going to shut up. We’re going to get louder. We’re going to get stronger. If that puts me at risk, so be it. I’ve spent my whole life gearing up for this fight. In somewhat related news, I’ve launched our 2025 Month of Mindfulness in January. This will be a month of live and recorded meditation, journaling, habit-building and other resilience-focused self-care. I think we’re going to need it. Pricing is designed to be extremely accessible while remaining sustainable. You can sign up here. This week! Just launched for January Join us in January for a full Month of Mindfulness with daily meditation sessions, journaling, habit-building and more with a focus on making more space for kinky, queer, and other sex-positive folks. This Week with Wicked Grounds (9/21 – 9/29)

February 25, 2025 By Miriam Green

Howdy kinksters – If you are neurodivergent, love friends and partners who are, or just want to create more inclusive community, I hope you’ll join us for two special classes on neurodivergence and kink this weekend. Today, we host Consent, Accountability, and Neurodivergence with Adam and Draven and tomorrow we host Autism & Kink with London-based BDSM educator John Pendal. Oh, and if you’re in far northern California, make a trek out to Mendocino today! I’m hosting a coastal Mendocino county munch in the beautiful town of Mendocino today. You can find out more here. The rest of the week brings classes on sex magick, staples (!!!), switching, disabilities, and compassionate breakups. Whew! And then, it’s the biggest Leather weekend of the year. We hope to see you next Sunday at Wicked Grounds Booth at Folsom Street Fair — RSVP to let friends know you’re coming and get updates about what’s happening! As you may have already heard, we are going to have an epic sale of remaining books and gear in stock, as well as mystery bags to get the gear rehomed. Starting this winter, we’ll focus our sales on digital downloads and other educational products, so everything else must go! We will also have new gear from our friends at Rough Cut Leather on hand. Come check it all out and get some great bargains! We are now two weeks away from launching the fall cohort of our six-week intensive Diving Deep: Discovering and Voicing Your Erotic Desires. Space is limited, and with Folsom just weeks before our launch, our fall cohort always sells out. If you want to get the ticketing tier with four consult sessions, please book by Monday, 9/23! To appropriately manage our time, we usually close that tier early. Read on for this week’s events, and plan ahead by checking out all our ticketed events. This week! Saturday 9/21 This weekend, we are offering two critical perspectives on neurodivergence and kink. Join us Saturday at 2pm Pacific for Consent, Accountability, and Neurodivergence with Adam and Draven. How does neurodivergence affect consent mistakes, incidents, and violations? How does it affect boundaries, grappling with hurt and harm (and discerning between the two), and accountability at the personal, interpersonal, and community levels? You’ll learn all this and more in this critical online class! Get your tickets through Forbidden Tickets or Plura. Our own Miriam Green will be hosting a Mendocino Munch today at noon. This isn’t a Wicked Grounds event, but you can definitely connect with information about the Ground there. Details here. Sunday 9/22 Join us at 11am Pacific for our extremely popular class Autism & Kink with London-based BDSM educator John Pendal. In this workshop we look at the overlap of autism and kink. This workshop isn’t just for autistic folk, it can help anyone who feels like an outsider or would like to create a more inclusive environment. Get your advance tickets through Forbidden Tickets or Plura. Monday 9/23 Want to learn an S/m technique that’s anything but run of the mill? Join Miss Mackenzee at 6pm Pacific for Staples 101. This beginner’s class is designed to introduce you to the safety precautions necessary when it comes to playing with piercing someone’s skin using medical staples. Get your tickets through Forbidden Tickets or Plura. Tuesday 9/24 Why stick to one side of the slash when you can have both? Join Lee Harrington tonight at 6pm Pacific to learn about Strategies for Switching. Let’s look at switching, and see what notions we are ready to embrace, and which need to be switched around. Get your tickets through Forbidden Tickets or Plura. Wednesday 9/25 Kink is for everyone! But whether it’s due to aging, injury, or disability, sometimes it can be a challenge to find the best strategies for all of our individual bodies. Join HG Wyndell to get some strategies at 6pm Pacific tonight in Mobility, Disability, and Kink. Let’s get together to talk about how we can continue to enjoy our best kinky lives when presented with mobility issues. Get your tickets through Forbidden Tickets or Plura. New video classes available from Wicked Grounds!

February 25, 2025 By Miriam Green

Hi all – I’m delighted to advise that we’ve added two new core classes to our suite of video classes for digital download at [WickedGroundsAnnex.com](https://wickedgroundsannex.com/). When we talk about the things your memberships make possible? These are the kinds of things we’re talking about. Having a regular budget to work toward for key software subscriptions, staffing and all the other things it takes to create new content? It’s a huge blessing and we truly couldn’t do it without you. If you’re a VIP member, these classes are available to do at no charge. Hang tight, and I’ll have discount codes viewable to folks at the VIP + level within the hour. **[Kink 101: BDSM Negotiation Basics](https://wickedgroundsannex.com/p/kink-101-bdsm-negotiation-basics-662766)** is the core soft skills class I’ve offered monthly for over ten years! This is where it all started. You’ll learn the basics of consent and negotiation, key negotiation questions for scenes, and even what’s going on in your brain that makes communicating during a scene more complex. **[Kink 201: Advanced Negotiation for Dynamics and Relationships](https://wickedgroundsannex.com/p/kink-201-advanced-negotiations-video-class)** builds on the basic negotiation skills and applies them to co-creating D/s and other kinky relationships that work. This class is designed for kinksters with a bit of experience, but will help anyone that wants to create and improve relationship dynamics. Do you prefer your classes live? **We’ve just added monthly, quarterly, and annual event passes to our [digital downloads](https://wickedgroundsannex.com/courses/)**! Those get you all-you-can-kink access to all ticketed Wicked Grounds events for a full calendar month (or more), and provide critical support to Wicked Grounds as we build out our future educational offerings. xoxo Mir & the Wicked Grounds team PS: Thanks again to every single member here for believing in us and making this type of production possible.
