This Week with Wicked Grounds (9/18 – 9/28)

Hello kinksters –

There is a lot going on this month with Wicked Grounds, but I want to start out this week by talking about another organization that has impacted me greatly.

I’ve mentioned in some of my classes that when I moved to San Francisco, I was incredibly intimidated by the local scene, despite having been pretty active in my home communities in Texas. The first organization I got involved with in San Francisco was ​Mission Control​. When I volunteered to work for my first event there (Velvet!), I quickly made new friends and found a warm, welcoming community. I jumped both feet in, quickly finding myself at their old location several time for a big renovation project. When Mission Control lost that space on Mission Street, I was gutted. But those savvy folks found a new home in Oakland, and now they want to make it their forever home by buying the space. This is a huge deal not just for Mission Control but all of kinky and sex-positive San Francisco. If I have personally made a difference in your life, it’s probably because Mission Control helped me get into the local community. Speaking of helping community thrive, we have a team for LeatherWalk on Sunday, September 21st. We’d love you to walk with us and/ or contribute to our team’s fundraising – whether or not you can attend live. It’s a busy day!

San Francisco, CA: If you’re in the SF Bay Area, we’d love you to join us to march in this year’s LeatherWalk! Leatherwalk is a great way to meet other leather folk and kinksters, explore some of our great local venues in person, and raise critical funds for San Francisco’s Leather & LGBTQ Cultural District!
