DESCRIPTION:Negotiating is a critical skill for building BDSM scenes\, dynamics and relationships that work. But negotiating doesn’t necessarily come naturally — especially for those of us who are just entering the kink scene. \nJoin us for a Kink 101 session on how to negotiate for exactly what you want in the BDSM scene and relationships. We’ll talk about: \n– Negotiation styles\n– Pre-scene negotiations\n– How to negotiate without killing the mood\n– Checking in during and after the scene\n– Negotiating and check-ins for ongoing BDSM dynamics \nDrawing on what we know about the psychology of a scene\, we’ll learn how to negotiate as partners toward a BDSM style that is hotter\, more fun\, and more powerful for all partners in a dynamic.This series welcomes all genders\, orientations\, and dynamic styles. This workshop is designed for newcomers to BDSM but is open to anyone who wants new tools to improve their BDSM communications. \nPRESENTER: \nMiriam Green has been in the public kink scene for over one dozen years in the Austin\, Houston and San Francisco scenes. SUMMARY:ONLINE: From Harm to Healing with Adam and Ash of Consent Academy
DESCRIPTION:Harm happens — from abuse of power to consent incidents and violations. When it does\, it creates ripples through the lives of the people involved and the community as a whole. Sometimes these events are handled well. Too often they’re not\, which frequently leads to more harm. \nJoin us for a look at new ways to deal with harm that works to support the person harmed\, foster accountability for the person who did the harm\, and manage the response for the community at large–including transforming conditions that allow harm to arise in the first place.” \nConsent Academy is an educational collective founded in 2016 in Seattle\, WA\, currently with staff and volunteers all over the world. We believe consent is a part of everyday life\, and its practice builds stronger\, safer\, and more connected communities. Our approach incorporates disciplines of psychology\, sociology\, public health\, psychotherapy\, and personal coaching to create a systemic view of how consent impacts everyone\, from the bedroom to the boardroom. \nINSTRUCTORS: \nAdam is a community organizer\, mediator\, conflict transformation facilitator\, kink and consent educator\, and ongoing learner. Their passions lie at the intersections of disability justice\, neurodivergence accessibility\, trauma-informed care\, consent\, embodied somatics\, harm reduction\, and systems transformation. They desire to help people relate in safer\, skillful ways that are trauma-\, power-\, and risk-informed. Adam is an educator with several groups including The Consent Academy\, advocating for consent from the individual level to the systemic. They do consent and accountability work in many contexts and community spaces\, from organizing spaces to the sex+ world. Adam sees this work as intersectional\, directly connected to the better\, more liberatory world they want to live in. \nAsha Lerae has been a part of Consent Academy since 2018\, teaching established curriculum\, creating new workshops\, facilitating discussion groups\, and acting as a consent advocate and consultant. She became Co-director of Consent Academy in January\, 2022. She is passionate about consent education as a way to reduce trauma\, promote pleasure and eroticism\, support accountability\, and foster cultural change that balances autonomy with responsibility.
