DESCRIPTION:Harm happens — from abuse of power to consent incidents and violations. When it does\, it creates ripples through the lives of the people involved and the community as a whole. Sometimes these events are handled well. Too often they’re not\, which frequently leads to more harm. \nJoin us for a look at new ways to deal with harm that works to support the person harmed\, foster accountability for the person who did the harm\, and manage the response for the community at large–including transforming conditions that allow harm to arise in the first place.” \nConsent Academy is an educational collective founded in 2016 in Seattle\, WA\, currently with staff and volunteers all over the world. We believe consent is a part of everyday life\, and its practice builds stronger\, safer\, and more connected communities. Our approach incorporates disciplines of psychology\, sociology\, public health\, psychotherapy\, and personal coaching to create a systemic view of how consent impacts everyone\, from the bedroom to the boardroom. \nINSTRUCTORS: \nAdam is a community organizer\, mediator\, conflict transformation facilitator\, kink and consent educator\, and ongoing learner. Their passions lie at the intersections of disability justice\, neurodivergence accessibility\, trauma-informed care\, consent\, embodied somatics\, harm reduction\, and systems transformation. They desire to help people relate in safer\, skillful ways that are trauma-\, power-\, and risk-informed. Adam is an educator with several groups including The Consent Academy\, advocating for consent from the individual level to the systemic. They do consent and accountability work in many contexts and community spaces\, from organizing spaces to the sex+ world. Adam sees this work as intersectional\, directly connected to the better\, more liberatory world they want to live in. \nAsha Lerae has been a part of Consent Academy since 2018\, teaching established curriculum\, creating new workshops\, facilitating discussion groups\, and acting as a consent advocate and consultant. She became Co-director of Consent Academy in January\, 2022. She is passionate about consent education as a way to reduce trauma\, promote pleasure and eroticism\, support accountability\, and foster cultural change that balances autonomy with responsibility. DESCRIPTION:We talk a lot about what consent is and how to reach good consent in play and with partners. Yet consent injuries happen all the time. What happens after things go wrong\, and a consent incident shakes up a person\, a couple\, or a community? \nThis class will briefly touch on what consent is and how to secure it\, then go beyond and examine how to best react when a consent incident touches us as a stranger\, a friend\, or an event host. \nWe’ll look at some recommended responses\, including incident reporting and consequences such as apologies\, punishments\, and restorative justice. \nPRESENTER: \nSir Panda (He/Him) is a Dominant and sadist who lives his busy polyamorous and kinky life in the Seattle area with his wife and his collared life partner. He has been a kink educator since he originated the Passport Program at the Center for Sex Positive Culture (CSPC) in 2011\, teaching consent and BDSM basics to new members.
