DESCRIPTION:Have you ever felt that kink community wasn’t there for you? Are you confronting unhelpful worldviews around consent that you’ve struggled to shift? Would you like to learn how to be less reactive or annoyed and more open to your [potential] partners’ perspectives? If so\, this class is for you! \nThis course explores the emotional\, social\, and psychological dimensions of consent beyond the basics. Participants will unpack common resistance to consent culture and deepen their understanding through reflection\, dialogue\, and experiential practice. Learn when “boys will be boys” or “it’s just my way” is applicable to consent culture. Even those of us who are profoundly dedicated to the ideas of consent sometimes resist the culture and practices of consent. Or we are not even aware that what we are doing is related to kink and therefore think it is not under the purview of consent. \nIn this workshop\, you will learn to: \n\nUnderstand what “nuance” in consent means and why it matters\nExplore how context and assumptions impact BDSM consent\nDetermine whether you can be a badass or a Dominant/Top and still be religious about consent\nExamine the conflict that arises when your authentic self conflicts with another’s authentic self in relation to consent\nUnpack personal resistance to consent practices and replace resistance with enthusiasm\nIdentify personal experiences with clear vs. unclear consent\n\nPRESENTER: \nBuzz_Stingyear is a late-blooming kinkster who grew up in a money-driven\, Trump-aligned household. He internalized a rigid worldview that took years of effort to unravel. With a doctorate in Counseling Psychology\, he strives to align his personal growth with his training. Entering the public kink community exposed him to the transformative power of feedback\, accountability\, and consent culture. Behaviors once normalized in his vanilla world were challenged and reexamined.
