DESCRIPTION:The purpose of this workshop is that everyone leaves with a better sense of where they are on the risk spectrum and how they can use harm and pleasure management to minimize unwanted risks. \nWe will have a hands-on approach and go through reflection questions as well as exercises\, while holding space so that everyone can share their own experiences and thoughts. \nWe will also offer extra material so everyone can repeat the process at their own pace and as many times as they need! \nFirst part: \n\nIntroduction to harm\, risk\, and pleasure from different points of view\nIntroduction to the history of harm reduction and why it applies to kink\nPolitics of harm and risk\nRisk aversion\, risk seeking\, risk acceptance\nSome questions to start thinking about how we relate to harm\, risk\, pleasure\, and loss\nSelf-consent: why it matters and how we can practice accountability\n\nSecond part: \n\nIntroduction to risk profiles: What are those? Why do I want one?\nHow to make your own risk profile\nQuestions to explore how risk feels in our body/mind\nExercises to map our own profile\nGroup discussion and sharing\n\nINSTRUCTORS: \nMel (he/him) is an Argentinian trans masc aligned gender fluid sex and BDSM educator. He is the co-founder of Kinky Vibe Argentina\, a collective based in Buenos Aires that hosts events\, support groups and workshops for the kinky\, queer and neurodivergent community both online and offline. Lifestyle kinkster\, he has been doing kink for the last ten years\, identifies as sub-leaning switch\, and is a sex worker (ProDomme). \nOne of his greatest passions is thinking about power\, risk\, and self-consent in the context of kink\, and spending most of his time accompanying people on their kinky journey. He has been teaching about kink\, pleasure\, risk\, and depathologization for the last nine years. \nMemi (he/him) is an Argentinian trans masc person\, who is a lifestyle kinkster\, a history teacher\, and an early-career researcher in the history of sexualities. He has been doing kink for almost a decade in a wide variety of kinks\, relationships\, dynamics\, and sides of the slash. It often makes us question — at least in the moment — what was otherwise an awesome scene. \nWhat is this awful mood we fall into after a scene\, and what the heck can we do about it? \nIn this class\, Miriam Green will draw on what we know about the neuropsychology of BDSM to help us better understand drop\, and build strategies for resilience when we face it. We’ll talk about: \n\nCommon misconceptions about drop\nWhat’s going on in the mind\, brain and body\nMind-body strategies for before\, during and after the scene to help us bounce back\nHow to change our narrative to avoid making drop worse\nThe best ways to effectively communicate after a scene — for good scenes and bad\n\nYou’ll come away with better self-understanding and a self-care toolkit to draw on when drop comes calling. Join us! \nPRESENTER: \nMiriam Green has been in the public kink scene for over twenty years in the Austin\, Houston\, and San Francisco scenes.
